Don't Believe NPPs Allegations - Kofi Adams

The National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams, has downplayed assertions by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) suggesting that some groups of persons are attempting to disenfranchise some Ghanaians in the 2016 general election.

According to him, although it was criminal to demand the Voters ID cards of citizens, he called on Ghanaians to not believe the allegations made by the opposition that some government agencies were demanding Voters ID cards in return for some services.

A statement signed by the Communications Director of the NPP, Nana Akomeah, last Monday alleged that some groups, including trainee nurses, farmers and market women, were being asked to submit their Voters’ ID cards in return for favours from some government agencies.

The NPP further advised the general public to not give in to such demands.

Speaking on Eyewitness News, Mr Adams maintained that the biometric system would defeat the purpose for which any person or group would seek to demand the Voters’ ID cards of any individual.
