Kwesi Nyantakyi Must Wake Up - Harry Zakour

The renowned football administrator has registered displeasure at the state of the local game, implying the 47-year-olds new tenure may not be the best for the development of football. Former board chairman of Accra Hearts of Oak Harry Zakour has taken a swipe at the re-election of Kwesi Nyantakyi as president of the Ghana Football Association. The former Hearts' chief guided the club to victory in the 2000 Caf Champions League as well as the Caf Super Cup, and is unarguably regarded as one of the most successful men to have ever managed the Accra-based side. Nyantakyi needs to wake up if the people have voted for him once again, Zakour told Starr FM. I am not part of the people who voted for him but if I were to vote for him, I would have first asked what new he was bringing into our football. Zakour maintains that football in the country has stagnated, with particular reference to the local league, and has called for a major reform. Nothing has changed in Ghana football, he lamented. He should come out with new ideas. He has won three times as GFA boss. He should come out with new agendum. Lets run Ghana football as the Europeans. Take a look at South Africa, Botswana and other countries, their league is very interesting. Our league is not interesting anymore. The sole candidate to have picked up and submitted a nomination form for the position by the July 17 deadline, Nyantakyi was elected unopposed at the GFA extraordinary congress on Tuesday in Tamale and is, thus, set for a third successive term in office.
