Georgia Hotel Sealed off In Kumasi For Non-Payment Of Tax

The Special Revenue mobilisation Task Force of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has sealed off the premises of Georgia Hotel in Kumasi for non-payment of tax to the state.

The hotel according to the GRA owes the state a total of GhcȻ175,434.00 as of August 2015. The debt has been piling since 2013 and it represents debt for VAT, interest and penalties.

The coordinator of the Task Force, Mr Henry Sam said the authority had to resort to the action due to the failure of the management to respond to the numerous demand notices sent to it.

The hotel is currently hosting guests attending the Ghana Bar Association conference ongoing at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

Other businesses such as DOREENAS ENTERPRISE, dealers in spare parts at Suame in Kumasi, was also sealed off by the tax officers.

It owed a total of GhcȻ 117,967.29 being personal income tax from 2001 to 2014.
