Police Brutality On LMVCA: DCOP Kofi Boakye Must Learn From His Counterparts

As a country practicing democracy, we are many a times faced with challenges in this practice. Some institutions, organizations, groups and some individuals chance on our democratic beliefs to act or behave anyhow they desire, which is unacceptable.

As a group, we wish to commend the greater Accra police commander and the entire police administration for not succumbing to the lawlessness by the Let My Vote Count Alliance. We find this action by the LMVCA as inappropriate and unacceptable which must not be encouraged or defended by an group or individual.

We just don't comprehend why this group of demonstrators can not just obey or follow a simple order or instructions, but, would have to be forced to adhere to a particular procedure.

It's unfortunate, but, deserving for all the beatings or force they received from the police to make sure they abide by the rules set for them. We therefore wish to commend the police for their display and putting those 'stubborn demonstrators' to order.

We believe the restrictions the group of protestors had from the police, saved as the peace we had the next day, because, we believe, if they had not been restrictions, they would have done the Electoral Commission much harm.

And we find the police interventions as timely and appropriate of which we encourage them to deal ruthlessly with any who takes the law into their hands. On the contrary, we wish to let the Ashanti Regional police Commander, DCOP Kofi Boakye to take a clue from his colleague in the greater Accra Region.

We have witnessed some demonstration under his watch by the NPP and he continually allows them to break bounce and many cases use unapproved routes in their demonstrations.

All planned demonstrations to be staged by we in the NDC have received a lot of strict guidelines and rejections by DCOP Kofi Boakye.

We are just forced to believe DCOP Kofi Boakye is in bed with the NPP and we are amazed that president Mahama has not listened to all calls for him to be reassigned him away from the Ashanti Region.

It's unfortunate the president has not acted on our petition to him to reassign him for the sake of our one million vote target in the Ashanti Region. It's really sad, because we find this as a matter of need.

But, we believe that the president would act swiftly on this matter and reassign Kofi Boakye as due him.

We also ask the police administration not to be perturbed or moved by any detractors, but, they should deal ruthlessly with any form of law breakers.
