LMVCA Demo Aftermath: Police "Forces" Protester To Urinate In Van

In last Wednesday, September 16, 2015 Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA) demonstration, the Ghana Police arrested some protesters for flouting the approved routes but the report is not told the ordeal the arrested protesters went through in the police van.

Among the arrested protesters was Anyaa-Sowutuom Constituency Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Alex Kwabena Boateng who apart from soaking in water cannon and smoked in tear gas was denied the right to nature’s call in the police van.

In an exclusive interview with Peacefmonline.com, Mr. Alex Kwabena Boateng, also known as Boat, narrated his ordeal that the police officers who arrested him together with other demonstrators including women refused to grant them the permission to urinate outside the police bus.

He added that the police who took them to the Accra-Central police headquarters subjected them to inhumane acts by asking them to urinate in the police bus.

“…we saw the police firing tear gas...but unfortunately one man close to me was hit and I had to rush him to a nearby house for water assistance...whiles i was in the process of lending my support, 4 police officers cuffed and pushed me into the police van…some of the police behind us also suffered from the tear gas and this created a stampede”, he narrated.

He further recounted that he asked the police to allow him to pass water outside the bus but the police responded saying “you can urinate in the bus for all I care”. He added he could not suppress the pressure from the bladder and had to urinate at the back of the bus.
