Black Queens Players Demand $11,000 For Winning Gold At All-Africa Games

Players of the Black Queens are demanding a whooping sum of $11,000 each for winning Gold at the just ended All-Africa Games in Congo. Reports in the media have hinted. The Black Queens made history by emerging Champions of this year�s female football event in the multi-sports competition after securing a narrow 1-0 win over Cameroon in the finals last Friday. A Portia Boakye late volley was all the Queens needed to avenge a defeat at the hands of their counterparts in the last edition of the competition. The Ministry upon the team�s excellent feat in Congo decided to reward all 21 players with $2,000, an amount which was rejected by the team following some outstanding bonuses yet to be paid by the government. The Queens prior to the competition were promised $3,000 should they advance past the Group stages, an extra $3,000 should they reach the finals and $5,000 for winning the ultimate bringing the total amount to $11,000. The team are yet to receive any of the bonuses despite winning the competition hence propelling the players to demand for their deserved amount owed by the government. The team made history by winning the competition for the first time having won silver in the previous edition in Maputo (Mozambique).
