Announcement of its Public Hearing (Ghana@50 Probe)

The Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the Activities of the Ghana@50 Secretariat, announces the Adjournment of its public hearing scheduled for Wednesday, August 26, 2009 to Friday, August 28, 2009. The under-listed municipal and district assemblies, who are affected by the change are advised to take note and comply accordingly: 1. DORMAA MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY 2. WENCHI MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY 3. SUNYANI MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY 4. SENE DISTRICT ASSEMBLY 5. ASUTIFI DISTRICT ASSEMBLY 6. TANO NORTH DISTRICT ASSEMBLY 7. TANO SOUTH DISTRICT ASSEMBLY 8. ATEBUBU AMANTIN DISTRICT ASSEMBLY 9. ASUNAFO SOUTH DISTRICT ASSEMBLY 10. JAMAN SOUTH DISTRICT ASSEMBLY 11. PRU DISTRICT ASSEMBLY 12. JAMAN NORTH DISTRICT ASSEMBLY All other schedules earlier announced remain unchanged. The three-member Commission of Inquiry has His Lordship, Mr. Justice Isaac Duose of the Court of Appeal as Chairman, with Mr. Osei Tutu Prempeh, Former Auditor-General and Mrs. Marietta Brew Appiah-Opong, a Legal Practitioner, as members. It has also Mrs. Barbara Tetteh-Charway and Mrs. Evelyn Keelson as Counsel/Secretaries. The Commission was established by C.I. 61, issued by the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Prof. John Evans Atta Mills on June 1, 2009 under Article 278 Clause 1(a) of the Constitution. The terms of reference of the Commission are: (a) to inquire into and report on allegations of improper use of public and of any other funds; (b) to inquire into the use by the Secretariat of any property, movable and unmovable; (c) to inquire into any other matter which appears to the Commission to be incidental to or reasonably related to the Ghana @ 50 celebrations, which in the opinion of the Commission ought to be enquired into; and (d) to make recommendations in respect of the findings of fact by the Commission The Commission wishes to notify all who have been invited to appear before it or to submit memoranda or petitions, to take this announcement as a reminder and act accordingly.
