Let's Support Local Entrepreneurs And Eschew Naked Jealousy And The Needless Scandalisation

It has come to the notice of Friends of Ibrahim Mahama concerning deliberate misinformation of the public by the Minority in parliament in relation to the benevolent work undertook by Engineers & Planners in desilting the Odaw River at Kwame Nkrumah Circle aftermath of the unfortunate June 3 disaster.

We find it very unfortunate for the Minority members in parliament to ignore the good works of Mr Ibrahim Mahama and E&P as well as the good legacy built in the 17 years of the company existence both in Ghana and Sub-Saharan Africa.

It's important for the Minority in Parliament to save themselves from this needless embarrassment to their loyalist by appreciating issues in it proper perspective and also take the trouble to fish for proper information from the right source and stop maligning and tarnishing the good image of young and hardworking achievers like Mr.Ibrahim Mahama.E&P success story is never built on cronny capitalism as they are seeking to portray.

E&P does not need government earth moving equipment to do it commercial project. And the claim that E&P must pay for using the equipment in desilting the River does not make sense.

The equipment were only released to help in desilting the Odaw River after E&P made it workforce available as part of it Corporate Social Responsibility after a clarion call were made by government for institutions and organisations to assist in alleviating the plight of the victims and also to prevent future occurrence of such National Disaster. The equipment were manned by E&P selfless workforce without any financial outflow to the consolidated fund.

The work was a benevolent work and all the equipment were returned to the Local government ministry after E&P completed their part of assistance to the state.Government could have spent a lot of money in all this but E&P intervened by using the tax payers equipment to do the work for the tax payer without any financial charge to the tax payer.

E&P since 2002,has transformed the mining sector in Ghana.E&P apart from their core mandate is also into the rental of Heavy Duty Equipment for the mining industry.

E&P acquired an RC Rig(DRILLSTR 5000). it's only one kind in Ghana. E&P have Rigid Body Trucks,Articulated Trucks,Tipper Trucks,Graders,Low Bed Trailers,Bull Dozers,Compactors, and Excavators among a host of fleet for rental. The good number of these fleet are working for Goldfields, the world's 3rd largest Goldmine Group at their Tarkwa and Damang site in the Western Region.E&P has Heavy Equipment more than the government and any other local construction company in Ghana.

Therefore,we find it very disgusting and appalling for the Minority in Parliament to claim E&P were interested in acquiring the Equipment used in desilting the Odaw River and also the illogical demand that E&P must pay for using the taxpayers equipment to work for the taxpayer for free.

What Impudence!Another baseless claim were that,E&P were using some of the government equipment for it commercial construction or mining projects in Accra and other part of the country.E&P doesn't need Government Heavy Duty equipment to work.E&P was already a success story even before this government came to power.

The Minority must eschew unbridled cynicism and sheer jealousy and help local entrepreneurs to succeed.E&P success story is built on five values, which are, integrity, innovation,Transportation,Accountability and good corporate governance and not on cronny capitalism as they are seeking to portray.

Another issue the Minority raised was,why did E&P had their stickers on the equipment.Stickers doesn't mean ownership and the Minority must know better. It's a professional practice when a company is on site. You must put your stickers on the equipment be it rental or ownership. This is done for safety and unforseen reasons.

The Minority could have confirm this assertion from the civil engineers among their ranks and not allow Hon. Dominic Nitiwul to expose his ignorance on civil engineering matters.
E&P Limited,a wholly Ghanaian owned company with 17years experience and speciality in six areas, covers the entire West Africa sub-region.

Mr.Ibrahim Mahama is a Philanthropist whose charitable foundation has been involved in impacting lives in communities where his company operate and beyond. Some charitable works include, putting up a 3 class room block for the people of Awunakrom in Mpohor, construction of a nurses quarters for the Tarkwa government Hospital and Midwifery Training School.Repaired work at some sections of the Tema Motorway at a record time.

Impacting the lives of the youth through mentoring and other forms of assistance to the less privilege.Mr.Ibrahim Mahama and E&P also assisted in the rescue operation at the Achimota Melcom Disaster. The latest works happened at Cantonments, when a 3 storey building collapsed. E&P moved to the scene with it Excavators,Trucks and other rescue equipment to help the rescue operation.

We shall conclude by appealing to the Minority to stop the manslaungering, polarisation and unfair or unnecessary scandalization of genuine Ghanaian entrepreneurs.

The Minority must discard the tag of being blackmailers and rather commend selfless Local entrepreneurs. Is the minority telling us if Mr.Ibrahim Mahama were a Doctor,he shouldn't save lifes because his brother is the President? We must seek for political power with recourse to fairness."Nothing in this world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity"Martin Luther King Jr.
