Black Princesses See Off Equatorial Guinea...

Ghana’s Under-20 women’s football team, the Black Princesses on Sunday scored twice to tumble Equatorial Guinea out of contention for a place in the 2016 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

Late goals by Veronica Appiah and Lilly Niber Lawrence ended the visitors’ stubborn resistance at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi and saw the Ghanaians advance to the next stage of the qualifiers on a 3:0 aggregate, having won the first leg away in Malabo two weeks ago by a lone goal.
The Black Princesses play either Ethiopia or Burkina Faso in their final qualifier. And it looks more to be Ethiopia who beat Burkina Faso 2:0 away and were expected to post the double. Visit our photo galleries for photos on the Kumasi match.

Meanwhile Nigeria's Falconets will face-off with the Basetsana of South Africa after they both won their encounters, albeit under different circumstances.

While the Falconets edged out the Democratic Republic of Congo in Abuja on a 4-1 aggregate, the Basetsana earned a hard fought 3-2 victory at home over Zambia after the two sides ended the first leg goalless.

Winners of the two final qualifiers will represent Africa at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Papua New Guinea in 2016.
