I Will Reduce Unemployment In Madina Boniface

The New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate for the Madina constituency, in the Greater Accra Region, Alhaji Abubakar Saddique Boniface, has pledged to use his skills in labour economics to drastically reduce  unemployment situation in the constituency should he win the elections in 2016.

The former minister for works and Housing made this remark when he joined the congregation of Madina Allil Bait Mosque at the Madina Social Welfare for Friday’s prayers last week.

He said, this could be done by introducing stop gap job opportunities that would engage the youth while it helps to transform them.

“When I decided to introduce the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) as the minister of manpower development and labour, the skeptics were like it was a non-achievable, but they had changed their minds when over fifty youth were employed through the various modules rolled out by the ministry”, he said.

He mentioned some of the modules rolled out as the youth in sanitation in collaboration with Zoomlion waste  management limited, youth in community policing module, where many of the beneficiaries were later recruited into the Ghana Police Service.

He said, the key problem is to understand the situation and find a tailor made solutions to solve it once and for all. “ I have a track record of creating jobs for thousands of unemployed youth with the National Youth Programme (NYEP) under ex-president John Agyekum Kufuor‘s administration.”

He gave the assurance that youth development would be one of the focal points of his administration if he wins the 2016 parliamentary election.

He said youth development would be the spread sheet on which he would roll out his manpower development agenda for the teeming unemployed youth in the area.

He started as deputy minister of trade and industries under ex- minister Kofi Konadu Apraku, was later moved to the ministry of tourism and modernization of the capital city, under ex party national chairman, Jake Otanka Obetsebi Lamptey.

“ I was later transferred to the Northern region as the regional minister where I succeeded in helping bury  the late Ya-Na Yakubu  Andani II for a regent to be installed before being made minister of Manpower development and later minister for water Resources Works and Housing ,” he touted.
