Kwadwo Asamoahs Return Good For Black Stars- George Afriyie

Management Committee Chairman of the Black Stars, George Afriyie, says Kwadwo Asamoah’s return to active football is good news ahead of the AFCON 2017 and World Cup 2018 qualifiers.

The midfielder has spent the last 10 months on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury that kept him out of Ghana’s team for the 2015 AFCON.

He made an official return to football when he replaced Juventus team-mate Sami Khedira in second half injury time, in the club’s 3-1 home win over Bologna on Sunday October 4.

Afriyie is pleased with the latest development and believes the player will play for Ghana in the near future.

“I am very grateful that Kwadwo is back to full health and I hope that he will continue to do what he does best. We need to support him” he said.

“His quality is not in doubt and he is one of the best on the African continent. We wish him well and we hope to have him back in the Black Stars soon,” said Afriyie in Washington as Ghana prepared to play against Canada in an international friendly which ended 1-1.

Asamoah is yet to play under Avram Grant but it is expected that his recovery will place him in the minds of the national team selectors for upcoming games.
