19-year old Nana Kodua Nkrumah, the son of a police officer was arrested with two guns in his possession on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Achimota in Accra.
The lad also known as Crownzy named one Adjei Quao, a.k.a Wadada, a 44-year old banku seller who was later arrested by the police, as an accomplice. According to the Deputy Regional Police Commander, ACP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, the police had a tip-off that Nana Koduah and Adjei along with their other accomplices had planned to rob Ashfoam Limited in the Industrial area. According to the sources, Nana Kodua visited Wadada on August 21 to give him the two guns for safekeeping.
He again visited Wadada on Saturday at about 2:00pm to concretize their robbery agenda which was to take place on the morning of Monday August 31, 2009. However luck eluded them when police got wind of the plot and intercepted Nana Kodua near the Achimota Lorry Park in the company of two others who are now at large. A search of a knapsack he was holding revealed two guns which are being kept at the Regional police headquarters as exhibits.
