Gov't Refuses To Comment On $10 million Presidential Diaries Expenditure?

Government has remained tight-lipped over allegations that it spent a whooping $10 million on printing presidential diaries.

The opposition New Patriotic Party [NPP], over the weekend, claimed government spent the colossal amount just to print limited presidential diaries.

According to the flagbearer of the ‘Elephant’ party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Mahama-led administration splashed about $10 million on printing the diaries.

The presidential hopeful who made this accusation when interacting with some NPP members at an International Conference at the NH Grand in Amsterdam, said he is saddened by the report since majority of Ghanaians continue to struggle on daily basis to earn a living while the government embarks on profligate spending.

I listen to the disillusionment of the average Ghana with politicians who promise them relief and end up bringing them grief when they get into office. I listen to the journalist who is saddened by the revelation that a government can spend $10 million to print presidential diaries. Yes, you heard me right: $10 million,” Nana Addo alleged.

However, government Communications Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah has declined to comment on the allegation during an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show Ghana Montie

When asked by host Kwasi Aboagye to confirm or deny the allegation, he rapidly said – “My brother, you are not been fair to other radio stations. I have other issues to attend to, you told me our interview wouldn’t last for long. There are other stations calling me. Let me attend to them as well.

…But you can call me some other time so we talk about that,” he added and abruptly ended the interview.
