Utility Tariffs: We Are Paying For A "Bad Gov't"... - Hon. Kyeremateng Agyarko

Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko has attributed the call by utility providers for an upward adjustment in utility tariffs to the "inefficiency and mismanagement" of President John Mahama and his administration.

According to him, the Mahama administration continues to fail woefully and apparently has no clue to revive the energy sector.

He described President Mahama's administration on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" as a "bad government".

Commenting on the calls by the utility providers for an increment in the utility tariffs, Hon. Agyarko wondered why Ghanaians should pay for the energy lapses.

We are paying for maladministration. We are paying for a bad government. We are paying for the failure of this government.

Meanwhile, the utility companies, Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Volta River Authority (VRA) and the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCO) have called for a major tariff review.

They have proposed more than a 100 percent increment in tariffs.
