Most Consumers Use Electricity For Luxury...Why Won't There Be Huge Utility Tariffs? - Anim Piesie

NDC Communicator Anim Piesie has blamed Ghanaians partially for the continual energy crises facing the nation.

Contributing to a panel discussion on PeaceFM's "Kokrokoo", Anim Piesie held strongly that the luxurious lifestyles of some Ghanaians has necessitated the irregular power supply to communities.

According to him, electricity consumers in the country fail to manage the supply of electricity but rather "use electricity for luxury...Some people use it unnecessarily."

This therefore has resulted in the upward adjustments in utility tariffs, despite the shortages in electricity supply across the nation.

To him, Ghanaians should not only blame the Mahama administration because their actions and inactions have equally accounted for the problems they are facing in the energy sector.

We pretend that government should always do everything for us. Do you now see the huge debt? Instead of us facing it squarely and finding lasting solution to relieve us, Ghanaians are rather doing otherwise," he opined.

"How do we check that?" he questioned, advising the electricity consumers to also manage their utilities effectively.
