Kade celebrates Ekaade festival

The people of Kade have celebrated the fifth anniversary of the Ekaade festival, which commemorates their narrow escape from their enemies in the 16th Century which brought to their present abode. It is essentially to honour the ancestors who fought to make Kade what it is today. The day was celebrated under the theme: Uniting our Youth for Development. The people were seen in jubilant mood while they reflected on their past achievements and failures to chart a new and more prosperous path for development. Speaking at a durbar to climax the festival on Wednesday, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr George Agyemang Duah, urged the people to continue to live in peace and work to transform the town. He told them that the District Assembly and government were prepared to assist any community that was prepared to help itself and stressed the need for a non-partisan approach to issues of development. Mr Duah said government would ensure that in providing jobs for the youth and amenities for the people, it would not be done along party lines. He said the Youth in Agriculture Programme to be launched soon by government, would provide financial assistance to the youth to pursue careers in the sector. He, however, noted that the monies to be given out would be paid back for others to also benefit. Mr Duah announced that the Kade market would soon be expanded and improved. The Kadehene, Osabarima Agyare Tenadu II, said the deprived Kade Senior High Technical School, lacked boys dormitory and a well equipped library. He expressed his appreciation for the upgrading of the Kade Health centre to a hospital status and called for provision of accommodation for the medical personnel. Osabarima Tenadu said the people had demonstrated their preparedness to assist government to deliver better health care by constructing a big block for both male and female wards. He also called for governments assistance for its early completion. The Member of Parliament for Kade, Mr Ofosu Asamoah, asked all those attending the durbar to leave the grand more united than ever to help move Kade and Ghana forward. Mr Asamoah pledged to financially support the Kade Government Hospital to procure a generator.
