Lorient Coach Ripoll Slams Ghana FA Over Majeed Waris

Les Merlus manager criticises the Ghana Football Association for using the striker in the international friendly against Canada. Lorient coach Sylvain Ripoll is unhappy with the Ghana Football Association for fielding striker injured Abdul Majeed Waris in an international friendly on October 13. The frontman was a second half substitute as Ghana came from behind to pull off a 1-1 stalemate with Canada at the RFK Stadium in Washington, USA. Waris was an injury doubt ahead of game, having been withdrawn in the 74th minute of Lorients French Ligue 1 clash with Bordeaux before the international break for a suspected thigh problem. We are rather disappointed at the turn of events because as you would know, Waris was taken out of the match against Bordeaux due to some pain in the thigh, Ripoll was quoted as saying by French newspaper Le Figaro. We agreed to let him join his national team so that they would know of the problem. He went there with a doctors report to inform them of the situation. Ripolls comments come on the back of latest revelation that the former Valenciennes man is expected to be sidelined for up to three weeks, after appearing to have aggravated his thigh injury on national duty. Consequently, Waris was missing from Lorients side that came from behind to snatch a 1-1 stalemate at Marseille courtesy of a 37th minute effort from Benjamin Moukandjo. Having joined Les Merlus in the summer from Turkish side Trabzonspor, Waris has so far netted three times in six appearances, but his activities appear to have been blighted by injuries. The striker suffered a hand injury on his debut against Bastia in August, consequently missing almost a month of action.
