More NPP Bigwigs To Be Booted Out...

National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Ablekuma Central Constituency, Theophilus Tetteh Chaie has predicted that many leading members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will be booted out of the party.

According to him, anybody who does not conform to the view of the flag bearer of the party is seen as an ‘enemy within’ who must be hounded out of the party.

His assertions come after the National Executive Committee of the NPP last Friday, unanimously adopted the recommendation of the National Disciplinary Committee for the indefinite suspension of the National Chairman of the party.

The party’s Council of Elders in a 7- page letter, in September, to the NPP’s Disciplinary Committee, ordered that steps be taken to suspend Mr. Paul Afoko from the position of Chairman of the largest opposition party.

After several invitations to Mr. Afoko to appear before the Disciplinary Committee were not honoured, the committee decided to recommend Mr. Afoko’s suspension.

Since the suspension, several major players of the party and groups have expressed their views on the development, somewhat confirming the divisions in the party.

While Charles Wereko Brobby, a leading member of the NPP has likened the suspension to coup, an avowed critic, Dr. Arthur Kennedy, has labeled the party as inhospitable to non-Akans.

However speaking on Adom FM’s morning show ‘Dwaso Nsem’ Tuesday, the Ablekuma Central MP predicted that, Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe and Dr. Arthur Kennedy are next to be suspended for their persistent criticism against the flag bearer of the party.

He indicated that there is an attempt to gag people with dissenting views from expressing their opinions.

Tetteh Chaie however urged the NPP to tolerate dissenting views in the party stating that “individuals within the party have the right to express their opinions”.
