Dede Shows Dad Love

Black Stars deputy skipper Andre Dede Ayew has congratulated his father Abedi Ayew Pele on the latter’s 51st birthday.

The Swansea man posted a birthday message on Twitter thus: “Happy birthday dad [2 heart emojis]! Best dad ever! LOVE U”.

Abedi, who turned 51 yesterday, has played a major role in the football careers of his three sons – Rahim, Dede and Jordan.

The former Black Stars/Olympic Marseille star had followed and guided his three sons’ football careers with keen interest.

At a point when Dede was struggling to find his rhythm in the French Ligue 1 (with limited playing time), Abedi suggested a loan spell with Arles Avigon which paid off.

Dede peaked for club and country after the loan spell and he has not looked back since then, making a significant impact in the French Ligue 1, which attracted the attention of many suitors including Liverpool, Newcastle and AS Monaco among others.

Again, Abedi, acting as his son’s agent, offered the best of counsel and secured the youngster a Swansea deal where he has settled so well; netting five spectacular goals in the English Premier League so far.

Dede has been shortlisted for the prestigious Glo CAF African Player of the Year award alongside holder Yaha Toure and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and the winner will be announced at a gala on January 7 in Nigeria.
