Christian Atsu Is Abedi Ayews Heir Derek Boateng

The ex-Getafe man claims the Chelsea loanee could be Ghanas next top star. Former Fulham and Black Stars midfielder Derek Boateng says Bournemouth winger Christian Atsu could rise to the status of Abedi Ayew Pele if given the necessary support. Atsu, 23, has seen his season blighted with persistent injuries, having failed to make a single appearance for the Cherries in the English Premier League since a summer loan move from Chelsea. If you see how Abedi Pele played, we have never seen any player like that apart from him Atsu in that position, Boateng told Graphic Sports newspaper. If we can help this boy [Atsu], I think he can be our next Abedi Pele in Ghana, trust me because this guy is really good. Atsu is a great player who needs support from Ghanaians and the players around him. The guy is good, humble and very fast with the ball. He needs help because he has everything to succeed. Since joining Chelsea from Portuguese side Porto in August 2013, the silky winger has struggled to live up to expectation, playing just five times including a single start during a season-long loan spell at Everton in 2014-15. His situation seems to have worsened with his absolute no show in the English topflight this season. He has just two League Cup appearances to his name. Atsu won the Player of the Tournament and Goal of the Tournament awards with Ghana at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.
