Former German international Gerald Asamoah signed off from active football in an emotional way after bursting into tears during his testimonial match at the Veltins Arena.
 
Asamoah who led the Schalke All-Stars team to beat a selected side 5-4 was handed a befitting send-off by his former Club (Schalke) as he bid farewell to his fans.

The 37-year-old also used the game to honour the lost souls in the terrorist attack in France.

The game saw ex-playmates of Asamoah as well as some World football stars who came to grace the occasion.

The striker made his debut for Germany in 2001 against Slovakia, making him the first African-born black player to ever play for the side.

The ex-football star who remains a legend at Schalke scored 44 goals in 279 appearance for the blues.

He also made 43 appearances for Germany and represented the European country at the 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cups.

He had stints with German sides SpVgg Greuther Fürth, FC St. Pauli and Hannover 96.
