Ghana Premier League Resumes On December 20

The date for the commencement of the topflight’s new season has been scheduled for December 20.

The new season of Ghana Premier League will begin on December 20, the president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Kwesi Nyantakyi announced on Tuesday.

The announcement puts to rest unending speculations of the 2015/16 season schedule.

“The Ghana Premier League will commence on December 20 but we must brace ourselves,” Nyantakyi toldKessben TV on Tuesday.

The GFA is yet to secure a new headline sponsor after the withdrawal of First Capital bank, which cited restructuring as one of the reasons.

The league is set to maintain its conventional 16-team structure, with the return of Ebususa Dwarfs and two debutants – Techiman City and Dreams FC.

Heart of lions, Great Olympics and B. A. United were relegated last season, which was won by AshantiGold.

Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko remain the only clubs to have started and finished all previous seasons.
