Kwesi Nyantakyi Names George Afriyie as GFA Vice President

George Afriyie has been named the vice president of the Ghana Football Association following an Executive Committee meeting held on Thursday, 19 November 2015.

President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi named Mr Afriyie who takes over the position from Fred Crentsil for the next four years.

The nomination of George Afriyie is based on Article 30.3 of the First Amendment of the GEA Statures passed by Congress on December 2014 which states:

“At the maiden meeting of the Executive Committee, the President shall appoint from the membership of the Executive, the Vice President of the GFA and three other members who shall together with the President form the five(5) members of the Emergency Committee.”

This was the first Executive Committee meeting since its inception and as per the amendment, Eddy Doku, Nanabanyin Benjamin Eyison and Kweku Eyiah were also nominated to make up the five-man Emergency Committee members.

GFA vice president George Afriyie has previously served as management committee chairman for the Black Meteors and Black Satellites. He is also a member of the CAF Marketing and TV Rights Committee.
