Zain Donates GH10, 000 For Ga Education Fund

Zain Ghana last week donated GH10, 000 to the Ga Traditional Council Endowment Education Endowment Fund. The Fund, which will be launched in October, seeks to provide financial assistance to brilliant but needy students in the Ga Traditional Area to pursue education at the tertiary level. Presenting the cheque on behalf of Zain Ghana, Carmen Brose-Annan, Manager of Corporate Affairs, revealed that education was the most important factor in the development of a nation. Zain Ghana, she said, was committed to the championing of education in the country and promised further assistance, adding we are happy to be part of this programme and will continue to hold discussions with the Council in order to lend our prompt support. Accepting the cheque on behalf of the Ga Traditional Council, the Ga Manste, King Tackie Tawiah III lamented about the level of illiteracy among the Ga indigenes. He said: The Ga Traditional community was in the capital of the country, but the indigenes have a lukewarm attitude towards education. People from other regions of the country always take advantage of Accra being the hub of education to improve themselves. The King invoked the blessings of the gods upon the donors and prayed for the progress of the Ga people and the country at large. The beneficiaries will be chosen by the Ga Traditional Council. In a related development, the management of the yet-to-be inaugurated tertiary institution, DLI IT University College, has also promised to provide a fund of one million U.S dollars for eight years to finance 200 students upon the recommendation of the Ga Traditional Council. The Fund is intended to provide full scholarship package of U.S $5000 dollars annually for 25 students.
