MUSIGA Commends GhaMRO

The President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) President Bice Osei Kuffour aka Obour has commended the leadership of the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) on the strides GHAMRO has made so far. The MUSIGA President was speaking at a meeting between the GHAMRO board and the newly elected national executive committee members of the Union. He also took the opportunity to thank GHAMRO for its support for the Union�s recent congress in Koforidua. Obour noted that in line with MUSIGA�s mandate to improve the lives of musicians the Union appreciates effective collaboration with institutions like GHAMRO. He listed some of the areas of possible collaboration between the two organizations as anti-piracy campaigns, welfare issues and a pension scheme among other things. On his part, the chairman of the GHAMRO board, Kojo Antwi advised the newly elected executives to ensure transparency and accountability in their operations. He indicated that GHAMRO will collaborate effectively with MUSIGA in a number of areas since the development of the music industry in Ghana hinges on the effectiveness of institutions like GHAMRO, MUSIGA and GAPI among others. Other GHAMRO board members took turns to advise the new MUSIGA executives. Among the board members present were the GHAMRO Welfare Chairman Alhaji Bandex, Vice Chairman Nana Tuffour, Augustina Addision and Rev Dr Mary Ghansah as well as the Administrators of GHAMRO Abraham Adjetey and Jonathan Cudjoe. Among the MUSIGA team was 1st Vice President Bessa Simons, 2nd Vice President Rev Dr Thomas Yawson, National Treasurer Samuel Agyemang and Director of Communications and Special Projects Ahuma Bosco Ocansey. Also present were Seth Amponsah, Big Ben, Easyway, Teacher Redeemer of the Ghana Phonographic Industries (GAPI) and Rev Francis Boahene of REPAG.
