Business Processing Outsourcing Centre To Create 10,000 Jobs� Dr. Omane-Boamah

The Business Processing Outsourcing Centre (BPOC) being constructed by the Ministry of Communications is expected to create about 10,000 jobs, the sector Minister, Dr Edward Omane-Boamah has said.

Dr Omane-Boamah, who disclosed this at the official launch of the Tigo Digital Centre here, said the BPOC being constructed at Kwame Nkrumah Circle, would create direct and indirect jobs for the youth, especially those staying near the Kwame Nkrumah Circle.

He explained that the decision to construct the BPOC formed part of government’s Information Communication Technology development policy.

He said other ICT applications were being developed for deployment to enhance e-payment, e-procurement, e-immigration, e-parliament and e-justice.

He disclosed that the government was also constructing a National Data Centre with all the necessary deliverables, to enhance government business and services delivery.

The Minister said the National Data Centre would ensure that the government processes were more transparent and based on technology to impact positively on the citizens and businesses.

Dr. Omane-Boamah said the Ministry of Communications and the National Information Technology Agency were putting structures in place to ensure that the required technological platforms were made available for use.

Turning his focus on the Tigo Data Centre, the Minister of Communications said the Centre would offer enormous and sophisticated services to the customers of Tigo.

He said the Ministry of Communications and its affiliate agencies had been monitoring the activities of the all players within the telecommunication sector and were aware of the inroads Tigo of Ghana was making to introduce innovative services to meet the demands of subscribers.

“I wish to congratulate Tigo Ghana for aggressively driving technological advancement in their operations to give their customers a delightful experience,” he said, adding that “over the past year, we have also witnessed Tigo Ghana’s huge capital investments in infrastructural development to improve their network quality, in addition to launching timely and innovative products to benefit their customers.”

Dr Omane-Boamah also lauded Tigo Ghana for its Corporate Social Responsibility exploits, saying “it will be difficult to ignore Tigo Ghana’s Corporate Social Responsibility investments in the area of education.

He pledged that the Ministry of Communications and the regulator would continue to create an enabling environment to enhance the delivery of quality services by all operators to Ghanaians, businesses and government.
