Asamoah Gyan Will Always Be On My List - Avram Grant

The Black Stars coach says he will always hand his captain an invitation to camp if he is fit to play, amid murmurs the striker is losing form due to age.

Ghana coach Avram Grant has hinted that he will keep using team captain Asamoah Gyanunless he is unfit to play.

The form of the Shanghai SIPG striker has come under fire off late, with many observers attributing his decline to age.

Gyan is currently 30 and remains the Black Stars’ all-time top scorer with 48 goals from 94 appearances.

However, he last found the net for the team in June during the Ghana versus Mauritius encounter in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, claiming a brace in the 7-1 win registered by the Black Stars.

“Asamoah is a very good player, and if he keeps himself well he will be able to continue to contribute to the team,” Grant said.

“I will continue to rely on him because he remains one of the best out there and despite his age he proves to be a top player.”

Ghana will return to competitive action in March 2016 when they take on Mozambique in the 2017 Afcon qualification double-header.
