Asamoah Gyan Sues Maurice Ampaw

Asamoah Gyan’s legal team say they are ready for a defamation showdown with Maurice Ampaw for his role in the public storm surrounding allegations that Gyan raped Sarah Kwablah.

The attorney general has dismissed the case and said Gyan has no case to answer in court but Kwablah and Ampaw have intensified their public mudslinging and infuriated Gyan’s team further.

The Black Stars captain was absent from the press conference in Accra on Tuesday to address the subject but his lawyer Kissi Adjabeng said they will respond to Ampaw via the law courts.

He said: “As we sit here Maurice Ampaw has already been sued. He has been sued in respect of one matter. It is going to open up and fresh suits will follow. He is already a defendant in a defamation suit. In this matter too there will be fresh suits served on him. As for him he is not going anywhere in this matter as far as we are concerned. Suits will be served on him.”

Adjabeng also questioned the role of the media in the on-going drama and suggested they were handing Ampaw a willing platform to carry out his “defamatory” act.

We live in a country founded on freedom of speech. He is free to say anything he wants but there are consequences. At the appointed time he will face those consequences will come to play

“The media gives him the platform. I  am wondering why. Every five minutes he is called. Perhaps if you stop giving him the platform, on what platform will he mount the tirade against the captain. Maybe you should be introspective and ask yourself that question.”
