The Goal Against Newcastle Is One Of My Best - Jordan

Aston Villa striker Jordan Ayew has described his goal against Newcastle United in the English Premier League on Saturday as one of his best strikes ever.

The 24-year-old restored parity in the 62nd minute at St James’ Park with a stunning curling effort after Fabricio Coloccini had given the home side a first half lead.

“The first half was for Newcastle and the second half was for Villa,”Ayew told AVTV HD.

“If we play like we did in the second half, I think we will win games.

“I think that was one of my best goals.”

Saturday’s strike was Ayew’s fourth league goal of the season after joining the side in the summer from French club Lorient.

The frontman had earlier scored in games against Swansea City, Tottenham Hotspur and Watford.

“His goal was brilliant,” Villa manager Remi Garde said of Ayew’s sublime finish.

“But it wasn’t just that. The work he did for the team was very good.”

The Claret and Blue are currently at the bottom of the league standing with just seven points after matchday 17.

“It’s a huge challenge,” Garde admitted, “but we’re still in the race.

“We’re bottom but we’re still contenders to achieve what we want to do. We’re beginning a run which will be very important to us. The next three games will be huge and massive.”

Villa play West Ham at home on Saturday before making double away trips to Norwich City and Sunderland.
