Gospel musicians, Nicholas Omane Acheampong has disclosed that he used to sell sponges to make a living before he became a gospel star.

He made this known on Pluzz FM’s AM Pluzz while contributing to a discussion regarding how churches treat their instrumentalists and singers.

According to the Aposor hit maker, he never went to church to make money but to seek God’s mercies and blessings. He indicated that although it is encouraging for instrumentalists to be rewarded, those who go to the churches just for business purposes should make their intensions known right from the onset.

“…I never went to any church with the aim of getting money in return. I had it in mind to serve God so He has mercy on me. So I go to church and from Monday, I sell my sponges and make a living. I will not complain. If you don’t find something to do and assume that you are an instrumentalist…” he said.

“Some churches treat their bandsmen very well… As humans, if you want God to bless you, serve. But take a decision that you came specifically to work and not to fellowship. We’ve all sang for so many years without remuneration but God is rewarding us today”, Nicholas Omane Acheampong noted.

The gospel singer well known for his Tabitha Kum, Zaphenath-paneah andMahashala Hashbaz songs was recently given a brand new Nissan car by Prophet Emmanuel Badu Kobi of the Glorious Waves Church International as a gift.
