GhanaMade Opens New Outlets In Tema

GhanaMade Limited has opened two shops at Tema to make locally manufactured products available to residents. The Managing Director, Comfort Aniagyei, in an interview with City& Business Guide revealed that the company had fulfilled its promise of serving as a bridge between producers of local products and their consumers. Mrs. Aniagyei regretted the situation where locally produced goods were ignored at the expense of imported ones. The Managing Director observed that the country could benefit tremendously from buying of local products, noting, We are here to bring a change in the trend so that locally manufactured products can get marketed. The continuous purchase of locally produced goods would make local manufacturers employ more workers in order to meet growing demands. Other benefits, she noted, included the reduction of the countrys dependence on other countries and the preservation of the economic rights of Ghanaians. Mrs. Aniagyei observed that the shops were opened to serve residents of Communities 9 and 10, stressing, The shops are at very vintage points; the Community 9 shop is located opposite the Tema General Hospital, while the Community 10 shop is located opposite the St. Stephen Anglican Church. The other shops are located at Community 8, 2 and 1 in Tema. The shop at Spintex Road is located near the Kasapreko roundabout in Accra, while the Nungua shop is located opposite the former Art Gallery. We now have 8 shops in Tema and Accra and hope to open a shop at Ashaiman soon. Apart from marketing locally manufactured products, we are also involved in the selling of locally milled rice including Oman Ba, Dada Ba, Gold and Northern Star, but the survival of the new shops would largely depend on the change in attitudes of Ghanaians towards the purchase of locally manufactured products, Mrs. Aniagyei concluded.
