Dan Lartey Boys Hungry For Positions

Though the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) provided its offices free-of-charge to the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) for strategic meetings in the heat-up to the December 2008 elections, no member of the Party has been considered for any position in government yet. Party gurus have reckoned that, with the exception of the GCPP, all other minority parties that threw their unflinching support to the NDC to convincingly thrash the New Patriotic Party in last years presidential re-run, have been given some positions in the government. The feel of total neglect within the GCPP after alleged promises of political appointments by the NDC, the Heritage newspaper has gathered, is creating worry, hurt and hatred for the Professor Mills-led administration. According to some party top gurus, though their leader, Dan Lartey does not want us to beg for positions, nobody is telling us anything. Remember the GCPP is the only party that held a press conference to throw their weight behind the NDC. Again, our offices were used as the main centre for a number of meetings which were attended by leading members of the NDC, including Chairman Kwabena Agyei and Ward Brew of the DPP. Asked whether it was not early days yet since the ruling party was yet to fully clear the mess it allegedly inherited from the previous administration, the aggrieved party sources said, we have no regrets supporting the NDC; in fact, they are our friends, but we think we have been shunned for far too long. The aggrieved party members congratulated some leading members of the NDC, who at least, showed concern when the leader of the Party was taken ill to offer their financial and moral support to the party. They, however, called on the leadership of the ruling party to as a matter of urgency consider some members of the GCPP for political appointments to complete the partys pledge of an all-inclusiveness in its administration. We have already submitted our CVs to the leadership of the NDC for consideration; our friends in the other minority parties have been given positions, I think it is our turn, a leading member pleaded. The soldiers of the GCPP assured that they have very capable men and women who can serve effectively in various positions in government to help it achieve its aim of providing jobs and generally making life better for Ghanaians.
