We Have Put Things In Place To Ensure Grant Monitor Ghana Premier League - FA

The Ghana Football Association assures that the Black Stars coach will be at various match centres to scout players for national assignments.

The hullaballoo surrounding Ghana coach Avram Grant’s continuous stay abroad is expected to take a down turn in the coming weeks, according to the communications director of the Ghana Football Association.

Appointed in December 2014, the Israeli has been criticised by many for ‘neglecting’ the local topflight at the expense of staying overseas ‘in the name of monitoring Ghanaian pros’.

However, GFA spokesman Ibrahim Sannie Daara says measures have been put in place to ensure the 60-year-old pay adequate attention to the upcoming Ghana Premier League season.

“We have put things in place to ensure that he monitors the league when it resumes,” Daara told Boss FM.

“Because the league hasn’t started, he’s abroad monitoring the other leagues. If he’s here, he will not be able to monitor the foreign leagues, and there’s no league here to watch too.

“With the league now about to start, we’re confident he’ll come down to monitor. This time around, we have to be firm and make sure that he stays here most of the time.

“We can’t insist that he stays here every time. But we’ll make sure that he’ll be around most of the time.”

Two months into his Ghana reign, the former Chelsea manager leg the Black Stars to clinch silver at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.

The 2015-16 Ghana Premier League is expected to commence on February 20.
