Former Hearts of Oak Star Don Bortey Insists He Has Not Reduced His Age

Former Accra Hearts of Oak winger Bernard Don Bortey is worried about rumours indicating he has reduced his age.

The 33-year-old was alleged to have reduced his age to 24 after signing for Swedish Club nge IF.

Bortey who has returned to the country after the break in the Swedish lower division was heavily criticized on several media platforms after the said changes made by the former Ghana star.

The ex-Ghana U17 player is agitated by the constant ill-comments about his age.

This thing has really gone on for some time. I never changed my age. You can ask my Club, he told Dormaa FM.

I dont know why some people are bringing all this stories. Is very bad, even the Whiteman wont take it easy with you if he finds out that you are using the wrong age, so why would I do such a thing by reducing my age.

I played at the U-17 in 1999. So calculate my age. That is the age I am using.

Bortey, nicknamed the serial killer shot to fame after helping the Black Starlets to win bronze at the 1999 FIFA U17 World Cup in New Zealand.

He was also part of Hearts of Oaks historic team that won the CAF Confederations Cup in 2004 after defeating rivals Asante Kotoko.

The player has also enjoyed shot time with the Black Stars where he played in the teams 2006 World Cup qualifier against Somalia at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The former Ghana Premier League best player also led Aduana Stars to win the 2009 Ghana Premier League title.
