Jerry Akaminko fails to land deal with MLS side Real Salt Lake

Ghana defender Jerry Akaminko failed to agree terms with Major League Soccer side Real Salt Lake.

Akaminko was hoping to land a deal with the Club having trained with the team for two weeks.

The 27-year-old had impressed Real Salk Lake manager Craig Waibel who was hoping to sign the Ghanaian center-back after the former Heart of Lions defender excelled in his trial stint at Tucson, Ariz.

Real Sal Lake were in search for a new defender after releasing Gambian Abdoulie Mansally to Houston Dynamo.

Both parties failed to agree terms in the contract which saw Ghanaian bowing out of the deal.

Manager Waibel however expressed his disappointment to have failed to secure the services of the Ghanaian international.

"It's disappointing, but the good news is we've already found three very good players," Waibel said. "Unfortunately, now we're at the number three, not the number two. But we're confident. We found three guys we really enjoyed … We'll find a fourth."

"We thought [Akaminko] was good," Waibel said. "He really enjoyed being with us. It's just a bummer that we thought we were going to be able to get it all worked out, but we couldn't."

"It's just a matter of circling the wagons and getting back at it," Waibel said.

The former Ghana U17 skipper who recently terminated his deal with Turkish Club Eskişehirspor will now have to turn his attention elsewhere in search of a new Club.
