The AC Milan midfielder claims he’s proud of his younger brother’s exploits with Germany and Bayern Munich.
AC Milan and Ghana midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng says he’s happy about the achievements of his brother Jerome and holds no ill-feelings about the latter’s success in anyway.
Born to a Ghanaian father but different German mothers, the siblings pursued different paths at international level, having earlier spent years together at Hertha Berlin’s academy system.
While Kevin-Prince opted for Ghana at senior level after representing German in the junior categories, Jerome stayed put with the four-time world champions, going on to win the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil.
“I don't envy and I am not jealous of my brother,” Kevin-Prince told SID.
“He has really achieved a lot in football and that makes me happy.
“He plays for the best football team in the world. Germany is the best team in the world.
“[Germany] play football with the false nine and without a proper striker. If they play like in 2014, they can also be European champions [at the 2016 Uefa Euro 2016].”
Kevin-Prince made Ghana’s squad for the 2014 global showpiece where the Black Stars clashed with Germany at the group stage, but it was at the 2010 edition in South Africa where the duo entered the record books.
The brothers became the first siblings in the history of the competition to play on opposing sides when Ghana met Germany in a group encounter, the latter emerging victors at 1-0.
Jerome has since gone on to win the Uefa Champions League, the Fifa Club World Cup as well as series of domestic titles with Bayern Munich.
