Kwesi Appiah Crashes Out Of CAF Confederation Cup With Al Khartoum

Coach Kwesi Appiah’s campaign in the CAF Confederation Cup ended on Saturday when Uganda’s Sports Club Villa ejected his Sudanese side Al Khartoum Al Watani.

Al Khartoum lost 1-0 at the Nakivubo Stadium in Kampala on Saturday evening to exit the competition 2-0 on aggregate.

Godfrey Lwesibawa’s powerfully executed header after 25 minutes was the match winner as the Jogoos progress 2-0 on aggregate.

There was a 15-minute stoppage because of heavy downpour that started on the quarter hour mark. Somalian FIFA referee, Hagi Yabarow Wilsh called for the abrupt halt of the game when the rains intensified.

Before the stoppage, the visitors had missed a 10th-minute penalty when team skipper, Abdalgabar Nagim had his weak effort parried to the corner by goalkeeper, Nicholas Sebwato. Sebwato had a slight touch onto the dreadlocked forward, Abubakri Razak following a defence splitter from Domonic Aboi.

SC Villa progress to the next round and will now play JKU of Zanzibar in the first round.
