Manhyia North MP Not Perturbed

The incumbent Member of Parliament for Manhyia North Constituency, Mr Collins Owusu Amankwah, has said he is not perturbed by the machinations of some of the constituency executives and party members to thwart his efforts to seek re-election.

He said no amount of intimidation or machinations by some of the party members to make him unpopular among the delegates would work as he was confident of receiving the endorsement from the people to contest the seat again.

Confidence

Speaking to the Daily Graphic following last Monday’s attack on some party members by some macho men believed to be bodyguards of the regional chairman, Mr Amankwah said he had always been in touch with the people who matter and expressed the belief that they would give him the nod to contest on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party come November 7, this year.

“No matter the machinations against me by some disgruntled party members, the delegates would crown my efforts and patience with a massive endorsement in the internal poll,” he said.

He told the Daily Graphic that together with the delegates, he had ensured that they carried out a massive development in the constituency and was, therefore, convinced that they would endorse his candidature, adding, ‘’I have no doubt that the delegates in Manhyia North would crown our collective efforts with a very massive endorsement of my candidature this Monday’”.

Press conference

Last week Wednesday, about 150 delegates from the constituency held a press conference to protest the treatment that was meted out against some of their colleagues who visited the regional party office on Monday.

The victims have called for an investigation to be conducted into the matter to unearth the perpetrators and bring them to book.

Speaking on behalf of the 12 persons who were reportedly beaten up by some bodyguards of the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the deputy secretary of the constituency, Patricia Arthur, deplored the conduct of the party chairman.

She wondered why their own regional chairman could look on unconcerned when his assigns beat up helpless delegates to pulp without any provocation.
