Duncan is the best coach for Kotoko, says Gyamfi

The Porcupine Warriors sit 10th in the premier league after a poor start to the season but the midfielder cannot think of a better man to lead them up the table

Asante Kotoko midfielder Frank Sarfo Gyamfi believes David Duncan is the best manager to guide the club back to winning ways following their poor start to the campaign.

The record Ghana champions are 10th position on the 16-team log after five games, with pressure mounting on Duncan following a 2-0 loss to Berekum Chelsea earlier on. However, the Porcupine Warriors’ 1-0 win over Hasaacas last Friday brought some hope.

With five points under belt, Kotoko are experiencing their worst start of a season in the last decade.

But Gyamfi, who signed for the club from South African side Maritzburg in 2014, believes coach Duncan can turn the fortunes around.

"He is a good coach and the best we can have," Gyamfi told Goal.

"Last season, when he joined he did a great job and we ended up second on the log. He even amassed a lot of points than any coach since joining so I think he just needs a little time to put pieces together.

"I will do whatever he asks and I respect him a lot. We will definitely do better the only problem is that this club is a big club that a few results can turn the heat in your direction.

"People have not forgotten that five months ago we nearly won the league and a FA Cup, but we have to change the situation fast and soon," he added.

Kotoko will travel to Agyeman Badu Park in Dormaa Ahenkro to lock horns with Aduana Stars before a home game against Liberty Professionals follows.
