The Porcupine Warriors defender has revealed he was given a compensation following the cancellation of his contract by the Sudanese giants.
Asante Kotoko defender Abeiku Ainoonson says he received compensation from Sudanese side Al Hilal Omdurman after his contract was mutually terminated last week.
The 25-year-old joined the Blue Waves until end of the season but despite his perfect start in the local league, his uninspiring performance against Libyan side Al Ahly Tripoli in the Caf Champions League prompted his premature release.
Ainoonson scored an own goal as Hilal lost 1-0 in the first leg and committed a terrible blunder in the return fixture that allowed Ahly to score a priceless away goal in a 2-1 defeat to qualify on away-goal rule.
"After our exit from the Caf Champions League, Al Hilal gave us two days break. I was at my house when I got a call from the office to come so I went there and met some colleagues from other countries," Ainooson told WestGold Radio.
"When it was my turn, the club's top hierarchies announced to me their decision to send me back to my parent club (Kotoko). This was because of the club's failure to reach the group stages of the competition.
"They said that the Sudanese league is without sponsors therefore they can't keep me since they lack the resources to fund the club for only domestic competition with high wages.
"I told my agent and I accepted to leave but they compensated me," he added.
Ainooson played nine league games and won five Man of the Match awards.
