Duncan's Sacking: Board Disagrees With Management

The crisis in Kotoko is deepened on Monday after the board of the Porcupine Warriors disagreed with management over the decision to sack coach David Duncan.

The decision to sack the coach could be reversed if the board insists that Dunca should be returned to his post.

"The board chairman asked that the decision by management should be delayed until the board meets but they went ahead to fire the coach," a board member, Chairman K5, told Asempa FM.

"This means we are not aware of the decision to ask the coach to step aside and we are not in support of it."

This comes after the coach Duncan said he will NOT QUIT as the coach of Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko insisting there is nothing like 'step aside' in his contract with the Porcupine Warriors.

The mouthy manager was sacked by the club's management on Sunday night with Kotoko asking the coach to 'step aside', a word they have used in the past to sack their coaches.

But the club's board has already stated that they disagree with the decision to sack the coach which means brings a fresh disagreement between the two bodies running the club.

The Kumasi-based giants fired the mouthy coach after a lengthy management meeting was held to decide on his future following the bad results since the start of the season.

A disastrous 1-0 defeat to Aduana Stars on Sunday took the former African champions to the bottom of the table for the first time in its rich history.

The Porcupines dropped to the 16th position on the league with five points from the possible 18 points.

The result of the match against Aduana and the club's position on the table left management with no option than to sack Duncan who was handed a massive warchest ahead of the start of the season.

The former Hearts of Oak and AshGold manager purchased all the top-notch players he asked for and as the results did not match the amount spent forced the hand of management.

Kotoko’s next match is against improved Liberty Professionals who thumped defending champions AshantiGold 5-1 at home on Sunday.
