WAFA faces sanction for misconduct in Hearts game

The West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) could be sanctioned for allegedly abusing medical personals during their League game against Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Some players of the Sogakope-based Club were reported to have attacked the St John Ambulance team in the game last Wednesday.

Report indicates there was banter between WAFA players and the medical personnels after the latter attempted to stretch off an injured player from the field to avoid delay by the visiting team (WAFA).

WAFA in the game were reported to have deployed some delay tactics which eventually earned them an important 1-1 draw away from home.

A player spotted in the number 6 shirt as reported by the St Johns Ambulance team was involved in a scuffle with a medical official which halted the game for about 5 minutes.

The St John’s Ambulance team in their call to express their displeasure about the behavior of the WAFA players has written to the National Sports Authority to take action against the former division one League campaigners.

The letter also pointed out some players of the WAFA team who were involved in an affray with the medical officers.

The National Sports Authority are expected to announce their decision on the situation.

WAFA could be sanctioned should they be found culpable to the offense.
