21-year old unemployed jailed 84 months for stealing

A 21 year-old unemployed has been sentenced to 84 months imprisonment by a Kumasi Circuit Court for unlawful entry and stealing. Ebenezer Adjei pleaded guilty to stealing a goat, music system, cloth and a cash of GH400 at Atwima-Koforidua near Kumasi. The court presided over by Mr Justice Adjei Frimpong heard that the convict is a notorious criminal and that persistent advice by his siblings to mend his ways went unheeded. Police Inspector Martin Assenso told the court that on September 5, he broke into the room of his maternal uncle, Nana Kwame Owusu and made away with cloths valued at about GH300. As if that was not enough, Adjei on September16, raided the pen of another person, Afia Takyiwaa, stealing one of her goats. His next victim was his own brother, Osei Kofi whose music system and cash of GH400, he stole. Police Inspector Assenso said the family being fed up with the convicts criminal activities reported him to the police, leading to his arrest. Mr Justice Frimpong, passing the sentence, remarked that, given his young age if he is not corrected, the convict could become a hardened criminal.
