The Mirror Ball last Friday “opened sesame” for the flood gates of premium fun as the SOHO bar and restaurant vibrated at a high frequency with the city’s finest all tuned in sharp and clear as DJ Blow filtered through the greatest hits ever imprinted on wax.
The stylish Afrochique theme is always a pleasure to experience especially because often on a last Friday African wear is already the order of the day thanks to some progressive posturing over a decade ago by His Excellency “The Gentle Giant” and so the engagement is always naturally very high.
The plasma screens lit up with images of fallen Icons like Papa Wemba and Prince who clearly distinguished themselves as maestros of their musical genres.
Mirror Ballers who know old school reggae also saluted Jermaine Riley, fallen father of current chart buster – Taurus Riley and those who were hip hop heads in the 80’s and 90’s were also reminded of the passing of Phife Dawg who was one of the legendary urban trio called “Tribe called Quest”.
