Hearts To Play Behind Closed Doors...Fined GH12,000

Accra Hearts of Oak have been ordered to play their next three home matches behind close doors and fined a total of GH¢12,000 for their supporters’ unruly behaviour at the Accra Sports Stadium during their home match against Wa All Stars on Match Day Six.

The Disciplinary Committee of the  Ghana Football Association (GFA) gave its ruling yesterday  after it had found Hearts guilty on the  three (3) counts of misconduct  brought against them.

The committee further found that the conduct of the supporters of Hearts resulted in the hold up of play of the match for about six minutes when the match was about 20 minutes old. It also said the match officials were held hostage for over 35 minutes by supporters of the club, all offences which contravened Articles 35(1a) and 39 of the GFA General Regulations.

Hearts’ punishment, according to the Disciplinary Committee, was also considered after the club had rendered an apology on behalf of the supporters, days after the incident, which was considered as bringing the game into disrepute.

Per the ruling, Hearts will miss out on the huge attendance and the expected proceeds in their home matches against Sekondi  Hasaacas on Match Day 12, Liberty Professional on Match Day 14 and Dreams FC on Match Day 16.
