Govts Subsequent Meetings with JUSAG Is Needless Sir John

Former General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie popularly known as Sir John has described the subsequent meetings organized by the Ministry of Employment to continue its negotiations with the Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) over their labour disputes as ‘needless and not in line’.

“I am saying this because JUSAG has already written to the Ministry for Employment and Labour Relations on their intention, and have also had series of discussions with the ministry compelling them to fulfill their part of the agreement made after the meeting held between the two parties. Therefore there is no need for series of meetings to be held on this same issue when there are more important issues to be addressed by this current government due to their corrupt systems put in place.”

According to him what the government has to do is to give JUSAG what they have asked from them per the conclusions of their previous discussions made, which made them call off an earlier strike scheduled on April 1, 2016.

He said “all members of JUSAG should never listen to the plea of government asking them to go back to work as negotiations on their demands continue, but must make sure they only go back to work after their agreed negotiations with government have been met.”

Speaking to UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ host Lawyer Tweneboah Kodua, Sir John noted that “this is the right time for JUSAG to retrieve from government their salaries and allowances owed them, since government has cheated them for long.”
