Member of Parliament for Agona West, Mr Charles Obeng-Inkoom has cautioned footballers to desist from taking hard drugs and alcohol.
According to the MP, sportsmen and women who are not disciplined and cannot control such bad habits never realized their dreams.
Mr Obeng-Inkoom gave the advice when he visited second division side Agona Swedru Professional Football club during their training session at the Swedru Sport Stadium.
He cautioned the players against womanising, which he said, could ruin their careers as professional footballers and urged them to respect their trainers and be disciplined, since "that is the only way to make it to the top."
The MP promised to offer them the necessary support to enable them to excel in their matches.
Mr Obeng-Inkoom said funds had been deposited with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) at Agona Swedru to register the 30 players and 10 officials of the team into the scheme.
He said the offer was to support the team to reduce its expenditure on health related issues and urged them to work hard to qualify to Division one.
Mr Samuel Oppong, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Agona West said the Assembly has asked the Ghana Sports Council to complete the rehabilitation of the inner perimeter fence, VIP and popular stands of the stadium.
Mr Oppong said the Central Regional Development Commission CEDECOM has awarded the works on contract but work has not been completed.
He appealed to the MP and MCE to assist the team with transport and logistics to enhance the fortunes of the club.
