The out-spoken National Women�s Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon. Ama Benyiwa Doe, has confirmed to PEACE FM that she is indeed putting up a storey building, just six months after the NDC assumed the reins of leadership, as speculated by some media houses. �I�m very serious, do you think I�m joking. I want Ken Kuranchie to know that I�ve not even demolished the semi- detached building, it�s still part of the project,� she sarcastically said in an interview with PEACE FM. The Daily Searchlight, published on 1st October 2009, that �just eight months into the administration of NDC, Hon. Benyiwa Doe, has started with the construction of a storey building�! According to the story, �the hard-charging Benyiwa Doe, who made a name for herself on various radio networks in the run-up to election 2008 as an avowed critic of the government of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) over all manner of issues including alleged corruption and the alleged acquisition of wealth by government officials, has so far torn down her semi-detached building at East Legon and has commenced with building of the storey building on the same land!� Still writing, the paper said, �already her neighbors are raising eyebrows over her sudden grandiose ambitions of creating a storey building and have started wondering where all the funds for the structure is coming from, in the light of the fact that President Atta Mills is yet to pay any of his ministerial appointees.� However, throwing more light on the issue, the acerbic-tongued former MP, who is also the Central Regional Minister, refuted the allegation that she acquired the wherewithal to put up the building through sleazy or fraudulent means. Madam Benyiwa Doe opined that as �someone well-versed in politics, if such negative issues are not said about you, the public would not sometimes even appreciate how sincere and honest you are.� "�Since 1996, I have been contesting this land case in court with a certain woman�thankfully, God gave me double victory, in January a ruling was made on the case in my favour�I had been really preparing unbeknownst to all, end of service benefits, my personal income�I have other sources of income�he�s say its eight months, let me help him, I�ve only been paid for only six months�he should check from the Accountant General the assets form I filled, it�s stated clearly in there the properties I own, the amount of money I have in my account, I stated everything, I�m not troubled at all by these stories,� she added.
