Partey Happy With Stars Call Up

Atletico Madrid’s attacking midfielder, Thomas Teye Partey says he is “happy” with his debut call up into the senior national team - the Black Stars.

Partey, 23, has been included in Coach Avram Grant’s 23 man squad for Ghana’s 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Mauritius this weekend.

The 2015/16 UEFA Champions league finalist told reporters after his first training session with the Black Stars that "this moment has been my dream for a long while.

“I have been working all my life to make it with the national team. I am happy to be here, it is a dream for every player to play for his national team so I am happy. I am okay with the team, I know we have a good team.”

Partey said he is determined to stay in the team for long, saying that, “I am okay, I am trying to learn from those who are already here and I am trying my best to fit into the national team.”

The former Tema Youth player received his first call up into the national team after he became the sixth Ghanaian footballer to have played in the Uefa Champions league when his side lost 4-5 to Real Madrid on penalties last week.
