Mariah Carey and Paramore Competing For No. 1

Either Mariah Carey or Paramore will secure the top spot on Billboard Hot 200 next week, Billboard predicted. Mariah's "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" and Paramore's "Brand New Eyes" could easily sell between 160,000 to 170,000 copies, according to the publication. Should Mariah rule the U.S. albums chart, the album which arrived in U.S. stores on September 29 will become her seventh chart topper. Also, she will tie Madonna as the second female artist with the most No. 1 albums, just behind Barbra Streisand. As for Paramore, this band will score their highest charting album and best week sale even if they miss the hot spot. The Hayley Williams-fronted band had their peak position at number 15 on Hot 200 when they came out with their sophomore set "Riot!" in 2007. Also battling for the Top Ten of Billboard Hot 200 are Breaking Benjamin's "Dear Agony", Alice in Chains' "Black Gives Way to Blue", Madonna's "Celebration" and Selena Gomez's "Kiss and Tell" among others.
